1. An overall picture of your water heater showing space on Both sides and also showing as much area above (all in one pic).
2. A close up, clear pic of the data sticker showing model, serial #, gallon capacity and other info (normally a clear or white sticker with black print typically located just above the temperature control at the lower area of the water heater). This data sticker could also be located closer to the top as well but in the vicinity of the temperature control.
3. On Gas Water Heaters, Please follow the larger pipe (which vents the heaters gas) to the point where it connects to a larger pipe configuration. It may also pass through a wall into the chimney (typically on older homes). Please take the picture of where this pipe ends.
