Insurance & water damage
Stop the water, then document what actually failed
After a burst supply line or a split water heater tank, two things matter: stopping the source immediately, and capturing what failed before it gets hauled away. We handle the plumbing side and give you a written description of the failed component, which is what a claim file usually lacks.

What usually goes wrong
Problems insurance & water damage bring us
The evidence disappears
The failed heater or fitting is often removed and discarded on day one, leaving nothing to describe what happened.
Cause is not documented
A carrier distinguishes sudden failure from long-term seepage. Without a written plumbing description, that distinction is left to guesswork.
Repairs start before the source is fixed
Drying and rebuild work is wasted if the plumbing failure has not been corrected first.
How the work runs
- 1
Shut off and stabilize
We isolate the failed section or the whole-house supply and make the plumbing safe.
- 2
Document before removal
We photograph and describe the failed component, its condition and its location before anything is removed.
- 3
Repair or replace the source
Corrected in writing, with the specific failure and remedy described on the invoice.
- 4
Hand off for restoration
Once the plumbing is sound, drying and rebuild can proceed without risk of a second event from the same cause.
Documentation you can expect
- Written description of the failed component and how it failed
- Date and time of the service call and the shutoff
- Photos of the failure condition where safely obtainable
- Invoice describing the corrective plumbing work performed
- Model and serial of replacement equipment installed
Licensing, bonding, insurance certificates and warranty terms are provided on request and vary by jurisdiction. Nothing on this page should be read as a guaranteed response time or a certification we have not documented for you.
Scheduling & coordination
Getting access, approvals and timing right
Retain the failed part
Ask us to retain the failed component. Adjusters frequently want to see it, and once it is gone the conversation becomes theoretical.
Sequence with restoration
Plumbing correction first, drying second, rebuild third. Out of order costs money twice.
Who we talk to
Tell us if you want documentation sent to a public adjuster, restoration contractor or property manager as well as you.
Repair or replace, decided honestly
- A tank that split is not repairable — that is a replacement, and documenting the split condition matters for the file.
- A single failed supply line may be a simple repair, but nearby lines of the same age and material deserve inspection at the same visit.
- Corrosion or long-term weeping is a different story than sudden rupture; we describe what we observe rather than what is convenient.
- Where a whole-house repipe is being considered, we separate the emergency correction from the optional upgrade on paper.
Have this ready when you call
- Location of your main water shutoff, if you know it
- When you first noticed the water and what you saw
- Photos taken before anything was moved
- Claim number and carrier contact if a claim is already open
- Whether a restoration company is already on site
Important disclosure
Coverage, deductibles and reimbursement are determined solely by your insurance carrier. Hot Water Express does not guarantee claim approval, payment amounts, or that any repair or replacement will be covered.
